I recently connected my iMac G3 (400MHz) to an ethernet cable going back to my internet box. I have gone through setup and the start page loads. However the page is missing components, and looks somewhat unloaded. also if I try connecting to another site, the internet won't work and I have to set it up again, only for the same result. Thanks.

Does your computer have an early OS X version installed on it, also?
There are a few options available in browsers, that may work OK.
Also, there's an iCab web browser for pre- OS X systems on their page.
[note Older iCab version, such as iCab 3.0.5 (01-01.2008) OS X + OS 9]
Was the issue with your computer hardware-based, or in setup access
whatever kind of Internet Provider (cable modem, dialup 56k modem)
- or understanding the basic setup with wires and control panels? If so:
See your other thread, as I included several links there from Support.
Hopefully between connecting proper cables, using correct settings,
and a later web browser, you may be able to go online w/iMac 400DV.

The internet has changed a lot over the years. It is likely your web browser is out of date.

I'm going through the same process. I'm connecting a G3 iMac (450MHz) and a Clamshell iBook (466MHz), both running Mac OS9.2 and connecting via Ethernet. I know what you mean about the components not loading. Like rcccharles and K Shaffer have said, its worth trying a few different browsers to see which one works best for you. It may be that one browser may be best for looking at certain websites, but useless for others. You may end up having to use two or three different browsers in tandem.
For the record, I'm using a combination of:
Classilla 9.2.3
Internet Explorer 5, and;
Netscape 7
I don't think any of them will give you the performance of a modern browser, they're just not up to today's tasks.I thought Classilla would fix everything for me as best as possible, but so far I haven't had much luck. Still, its early days and with a bit of patience it may work out ok.
